I, like so many others, suffered silently for many years. I lived in a way that now seems crazy, depressing & exhaustive. Chronic diarrhea impacted almost every facet of my life. I knew where every public restroom was and never left home without an ample supply of Imodium. I had been given a diagnosis of IBS and thought this was just the way I had to live. Food was obviously a trigger but attempting to track which foods were responsible was a dead end search. I had multiple medical tests, tried various medications, but nothing ever really made me feel better... until I stopped eating gluten.
Becoming gluten-free was literally life changing for me. Almost immediately my terrible intestinal issues disappeared. The only exception to this was if I were to inadvertently ingest gluten, but now I was able to experience a direct cause & effect. Avoiding gluten meant that I was able to regain a "normal" existence. I did not feel deprived... I felt liberated!
My only objective in sharing something so personal is to help others who may be going through a similar struggle. I SO wish that I would have known that just eliminating gluten could solve this life-altering issue for me. Are you or someone you know battling chronic diarrhea? If you have exhausted medical and pharmaceutical solutions then I would argue that you have nothing to lose except your symptoms. Give it a try and see if you too are better off gluten.
